Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Field Unit Engineer to join our team at SSE PLC. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of construction requirements relating to SSEN owned assets and associated infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the delivery of capital works construction projects, fluid-filled cable faults, asset portfolio plans, and connections as directed by project managers.
  • Provide support to project managers, principal designers, investment managers, commissioning engineers, and members of the works delivery team to ensure successful and safe delivery of designated project portfolios.
  • Ensure delivery of capital works construction projects, fluid-filled cable faults, asset portfolio plans, and connections as directed by project managers.
  • Oversee the management of substation and cabling projects, provide SAP resource and PM duties for internal delivery projects as required.
  • Work with project managers and design engineers to ensure safe and efficient delivery of SSEN's capital portfolio externally and internally resourced.
  • Comply with SSEN HS&E procedures, operational safety rules, and be fully conversant with ESQCR requirements.
  • Undertake SAP duties for internal delivery projects as agreed.
  • Populate and amend white books as required for both faults/projects and update Maximo via MAD forms commensurate with job.
  • Support regions in fault scenarios as requested by works delivery manager/depot.

Requirements:

  • 33-132kV SAP authorization, including full Sanction For Test (SFT).
  • Proven experience in testing and witnessing commissioning of HV/EHV distribution systems.
  • Ability to carry out fault investigation, locations, and repairs on EHV fluid-filled cable systems.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills to communicate with people at all levels and ensure work is progressing.
  • Undertake project management duties on small-scale internal delivery projects as agreed.
  • Hold a current driving license.
