About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Field-Based Engineer to join our team at SSE, a leading energy company powering communities across the UK and Ireland. As a Field-Based Engineer, you will play a critical role in the delivery of capital works construction projects, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of our capital portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the delivery of construction requirements relating to SSE owned assets and associated infrastructure under the direction of the CMI works delivery field unit manager.
  • Provide support to Project managers, principle designers, investment managers, commissioning engineers, and members of the works delivery team to ensure successful and safe delivery of designated project portfolios.
  • Ensure delivery of capital works construction projects, fluid-filled cable faults, asset portfolio plans, and connections as directed by Project managers.
  • Oversee the management of substation and cabling projects, provide SAP resource, and PM duties for internal delivery projects as required.
Requirements
  • kV SAP authorisation including full Sanction For Test (SFT).
  • Proven experience in testing and witnessing commissioning of HV/EHV distribution systems.
  • Ability to carry out fault investigation, locations, and repairs on EHV fluid-filled cable systems.
  • Undertake project management duties on small-scale internal delivery projects as agreed.
