Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Power Systems Engineer, you will collaborate with a team to execute electrical engineering projects, foster business development, and cultivate client partnerships. Your main duties will include:
  • Executing power system analyses (load flow assessments, short circuit evaluations, and protection system designs).
  • Conducting transient analysis of power systems for dynamic positioning assets.
  • Preparing documentation and performing site assessments for marine and offshore installations (rigs, production units, FPSOs).
  • Acquiring new skills and knowledge of innovative technologies.
  • Possessing a solid understanding of classification standards and ensuring adherence to electrical engineering regulations (IEC/IEEE/BS/IMCA/MTS/OCIMF).
  • Conducting technical evaluations and supporting tender submissions.
  • Leading projects and guiding junior engineers.
  • Ensuring high-quality documentation and collaborating with clients for project execution.
Preferred Qualifications

We seek candidates with:
  • Expertise in fuel cells, batteries, and advanced electrical storage solutions.
  • Experience in power system modeling and simulation (e.g., PSCAD, ETAP, Power Factory).
  • Skills in harmonics analysis and filter design.
  • Knowledge of frequency and voltage response studies in power networks.
The position is primarily office-based in London, UK (other UK locations may be considered), and candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK.

Some local and international travel will be necessary (to engage with clients in global hubs) and to perform inspections. Anticipated travel will constitute approximately 30% of the role.

Candidate Profile

To excel in this position, you should possess a robust background in electrical and electronics engineering, supported by relevant industry experience. Strong communication skills and the ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively are essential, along with critical thinking and data-driven decision-making capabilities.

Additional qualifications include:
  • A Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of pertinent experience.
  • Experience in operational, design, or consultancy capacities.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the energy sector, marine operations, and maritime industry.
  • Proficiency in Control and Electrical systems and equipment.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze Controls and Electrical schematics.
  • Programming expertise in Python, Power Factory, ETAP, C++, PSCAD, or other embedded systems software.
