Role Overview

The Central Underwriting teams at Hiscox play a pivotal role in our operations across the UK, primarily situated in key regional hubs. This team is integral to the technical assessment and underwriting of new business as well as renewals within our broker network.

In this position, you will concentrate on evaluating and underwriting existing commercial policies. This role offers extensive development opportunities and exposure to our innovative underwriting platform and strategic initiatives, paving the way for advancement into a senior underwriting position.

Key Responsibilities:

Underwrite commercial products adhering to our rigorous standards Strive to meet monthly targets related to profitability, conversion rates, and productivity Enhance your sales acumen and understanding of underwriting strategies in collaboration with various teams Negotiate effectively with both internal stakeholders and external brokers Challenge non-standard underwriting decisions by leveraging insights from product specialists and underwriting managers Demonstrate innovation by identifying process enhancements that improve customer experience and drive profitable growth

Essential Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years' experience in commercial lines underwriting, with knowledge of Professional Indemnity; familiarity with Management Liability and Cyber is a plus Strong analytical and logical reasoning skills Excellent communication abilities, capable of articulating thoughts clearly Proven relationship-building skills, fostering rapport with brokers A commitment to excellence, demonstrating dedication and a proactive approach in a dynamic business environment Ambitious and self-motivated, with a track record of achieving results Ideally degree-qualified and pursuing Diploma CII or exempt through relevant experience as recognized by the FCA
