Job Overview

We are looking for a Lead Transport Operations Coordinator to become a vital part of our Transport team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the Transport operations, ensuring that service standards are consistently met. You will plan and allocate driver and vehicle resources to achieve timely deliveries and collections while optimizing efficiency and adhering to all operational license requirements.

Compensation: £35,000 Per Year

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday (06:00 - 14:00) and Sunday to Thursday (13:30 - 21:30) on a rotating basis

As the ideal candidate, your contributions will be essential to the overall success of our operations, reporting directly to the Transport Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities of the Lead Transport Operations Coordinator include:

  • Maximizing resource efficiency while ensuring compliance with working time directives and driver hour regulations.
  • Managing equipment through a systematic sign-in/sign-out process to ensure legal compliance.
  • Developing and supervising an effective Transport strategy to meet on-time delivery and collection targets.
  • Overseeing both internal and subcontracted resources to ensure timely deliveries and collections, while maintaining daily run summaries.
  • Communicating effectively with the Planning team, Customer Service, other depots, and customers as necessary.
  • Monitoring arrival and departure schedules to ensure adherence to delivery windows.
  • Identifying optimal solutions for customer collections while respecting collection timeframes.
  • Alerting relevant parties of any potential disruptions or changes to the planned schedule.
  • Conducting investigations and disciplinary actions in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Logging, investigating, and reporting all accidents, incidents, and near misses.
  • Conducting performance reviews for colleagues.
  • Coordinating driver attendance for meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Ensuring adherence to vehicle and trailer maintenance schedules, conducting regular audits, and arranging repairs for reported defects.
  • Maintaining vehicle and trailer cleanliness to uphold the company's professional image.
  • Managing both internal and external transport management systems, ensuring accurate data entry.
  • Complying with all statutory and legal requirements, including health and safety regulations.
  • Assisting the Transport Operations Manager in ensuring the smooth operation of the transport department, including stepping in during absences.
