Senior Design Manager - Water Sector


About the Role:

The Senior Design Manager will be a key member of the Regional Framework team at RTL Group Ltd, working closely with the Regional Operations Director to ensure the successful delivery of Engineering projects.

This will require the development of a strong interface with the regional operations team, clients, external Design Consultants, and the Design Delivery Managers who will provide our internal design service if required.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Accountable for the region's Service Level Agreement, Deliverables, and overall Design Brief, ensuring that adequate resources, systems, processes, and controls are in place at all times to deliver measurable programme and project level success.
  2. Develop and implement effective design strategies to meet business objectives and drive project delivery.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design solutions meet business needs and are aligned with company goals.
  4. Provide technical leadership and guidance to design teams, ensuring high-quality design deliverables and adherence to company standards.
  5. Manage and mitigate design-related risks, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  6. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to drive innovation and improvement in design processes and solutions.

Requirements:

  1. Civil or PMEICA Engineering background (ideally with a good understanding of all engineering disciplines associated with the design and delivery of projects).
  2. Design and/or Project Management experience ideally in the Water industry.
  3. Degree in Engineering (MEng, MSc, BEng, BSc..) preferred or relevant Construction, Manufacturing, Project Management, or STEM-related qualification.
  4. Significant experience in planning, progress measurement, and change management of engineering activities on all project phases from front-end design through to construction, commissioning, and takeover.
  5. Experience in implementing Digital Technologies and/or Advanced Applications within construction projects.
  6. Good IT skills including software skills in MS Excel & Word.
