Job Title: Manual Machinist

Shackleton Recruitment Group is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join our team. As a Manual Machinist, you will be responsible for operating Manual Turning/Milling machines to produce high-quality components to customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manufacture parts to customer requirements using a wide range of materials.
  • Ensure all parts are manufactured to specified tolerances by using suitable measuring equipment.
  • Take details from customer drawings to produce components.
  • Select the appropriate tooling for set up and manufacture.
  • Conduct first-off inspection and in-work inspections as required.
  • Perform changeovers between jobs, ensuring machines are cleaned down and 5S is conducted.
  • Identify quality issues and provide remedial actions to overcome.
  • Use the Company's MRP system to track timing and costs.
Requirements:
  • Time-served miller/turner with in-depth knowledge of engineering, particularly around the manufacture of shafts/keyways.
  • Experience of CNC machines is preferred.
  • Able to accurately breakdown work and produce one-offs.
  • Driven and dynamic with ability to think on your feet.
