Job Title: Financial Technology Lawyer

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Technology Lawyer to join our Group Operations and Commercial Legal team on a 12-month secondment.

About the Role

The Group Operations and Commercial Legal team sits within Group Legal, a divisional team within the Legal & Secretariat function, to support large-scale and complex commercial contracts. Our purpose is to deliver strategic legal advice that is central to the operations of the Group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver legal support across the organisation, working alongside the Group Chief Operating Office, Group Property, and the Payments teams, as well as customer-facing business areas.
  • Provide legal advice on material outsourcing arrangements to ensure robust terms with the Group's suppliers.
  • Support the legal side of the regulatory notification process.
  • Help the business resolve performance or other contractual issues arising from ongoing supplier arrangements.
  • Ensure projects align with regulatory requirements and provide training to the Group Sourcing team and Group-wide business partners on relevant legal topics.
Requirements
  • A fully qualified lawyer with a current practising certificate for a UK jurisdiction or equivalent legal qualification.
  • Experience of negotiating commercial contracts, outsourcing arrangements, and technology agreements gained either in an established in-house legal team or in private practice.
  • Strong commercial awareness together with a customer-focused approach.
  • Excellent influencing and communication skills, with a pro-active approach to interacting with executives and building internal networks with senior leaders.
