Key Responsibilities

  • Offer tailored support for individuals at their job placements or employment settings

This will encompass:
job coaching, mentoring, identifying job opportunities, recognizing the need for assistive technology, and more.

  • Establish professional relationships with parents and caregivers to facilitate the completion of placements
  • Collaborate with placement managers and staff to provide training on disability awareness
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of each individual's learning challenges and social/emotional requirements, taking necessary actions to address these needs
  • Conduct regular meetings with placement managers and mentors to review individuals' strengths and challenges, discuss any issues, track progress, identify new potential placement opportunities, and source job vacancies
  • Organize events such as orientation sessions, informational evenings/open days, and graduation ceremonies
  • Work alongside team members to create internal and external marketing materials, including newsletter articles, website content, community presentations, and updates
  • Engage with other job coaches, employers, family members, and agency partners, including local authorities and SEND Advisers
  • Provide training to individuals in areas such as personal hygiene, communication skills, interview techniques, and appropriate workplace behavior
  • Participate in decision-making processes to identify and implement training strategies within employer placements
  • Uphold and promote the standards of the host organization with individuals to enhance job productivity and efficiency
  • Complete all necessary job coaching documentation accurately
  • Apply for Access to Work funding on behalf of individuals
  • Offer basic information regarding benefits and work-related expenses
  • Recognize and address any concerns regarding the safety and welfare of individuals
  • Stay informed about current labor market trends, employment opportunities, and educational initiatives
  • Contribute to creating a safe and welcoming learning environment, ensuring that the services provided to individuals are effective and secure
  • Utilize a variety of support methods and resources tailored to the needs of individuals

Qualifications:

Required:

  • NVQ Level 6 or equivalent qualification in Careers Education and Guidance, Youth and Community Work, or Social Care (or in progress), ILM L5 coaching certification
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, using various IT tools with a diverse audience including senior management, other professionals, young individuals, and families.
  • Demonstrated success in engaging participants with special educational needs.
  • Solution-oriented with the ability to perform under pressure
