Job Overview

Wood PLC is currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineering Lead to contribute to a pioneering project in Energy Security and Alternative Energy.

As a recognized leader in engineering design and project execution for energy transition infrastructure, Wood PLC is committed to assisting clients in achieving a sustainable, low-carbon energy future. Our deep expertise spans across carbon capture and storage, hydrogen production, and renewable energy sectors, combined with our proficiency in cutting-edge technologies and sustainable design practices. We collaborate closely with clients and the broader supply chain to minimize carbon footprints throughout the value chain and provide digital solutions tailored to the asset lifecycle. Our diverse project portfolio includes new developments, enhancements of existing facilities, and optimization of systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Overseeing the planning and scheduling of engineering activities and deliverables, including estimating man-hours as necessary.
  • Managing the execution of engineering tasks in accordance with established schedules and man-hour budgets, including personnel requests and daily supervision of mechanical engineering staff.
  • Offering guidance on the selection of mechanical systems and components.
  • Drafting Technical Specifications and Mechanical Data Sheets for equipment specifications.
  • Engaging with and assessing specialized equipment suppliers, including the preparation of requisitions and technical evaluation documentation.
  • Coordinating the integration of mechanical systems into the overall facility design by liaising with equipment suppliers and other engineering specialists.
  • Providing expert input during design reviews, risk assessments, and constructability evaluations.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Chartered Engineer status preferred).
  • Proven experience as a Lead Mechanical Engineer on both onshore and offshore projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working with mechanical systems in various project environments.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
