Job Title: Apprentice District Nurse

We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual to join our District Nursing team at Whittington Health NHS Trust.

About the Role

As an Apprentice District Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients in their own homes and in the community. You will work independently, but be accountable to the District Nurse Team Manager for all aspects of your work.

You will be expected to deliver comprehensive, skilled, and evidence-based nursing care to patients, and contribute to the assessment of their needs. You will also assist patients, carers, and their families to identify health and wellbeing goals, and support them to achieve these goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide and assist with the healthcare of clients in their own homes and elsewhere in the community.
  • Be accountable for own nursing practice and work unsupervised and on own initiative.
  • Deliver a high standard of comprehensive skilled and evidence-based nursing care to patients.
  • Contribute to, and be competent in, the assessment of needs (including for the provision of continuing care) of the clients on all matters.
  • Assist patients, carers, and their families to identify health and wellbeing goals.
  • Support and empower patients, carers, and their families to achieve their health and wellbeing goals.
Person Specification

We are looking for an individual with at least 6 months NHS experience in the last 3 years, with experience in Community Nursing. You should have robust clinical knowledge, a knowledge of the Healthy Child Programme (HCP), and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

You should also have a proactive and professional work ethic, excellent organisational skills, and an incredibly caring, empathic approach to all patients.

Qualifications

NMC Registered and Health Visiting Qualification are essential for this role.
