Job Title: Specialist Cancer Services Pharmacy Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our Specialist Cancer Services team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Pharmacy Technician in this role, you will play a vital part in providing high-quality patient-focused pharmaceutical care to our patients.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the satellite cancer services dispensary and the ward-based clinical pharmacy service at GHNHSFT. This will involve performing a wide range of duties in the pharmacy department, including accuracy checking of prescriptions, medicines reconciliation, and discharge facilitation. You will also be required to participate in oral SACT patient counselling sessions and take on responsibility for personal development and the supervision of others.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting clinical pharmacy services to inpatient ward teams
  • Managing patient medication - non-stock or one stop supplies
  • Medicines reconciliation
  • Discharge facilitation

You will be working in a busy and dynamic environment, and will be required to be adaptable and able to work in a demanding environment with frequent interruptions. You will also be expected to maintain accurate clinical documentation and records, including controlled drug audits and stock control checks.

Requirements
  • Professional registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Accredited Medicines Optimisation qualification or willing to work towards accreditation
  • Accredited Checking qualification or willing to work towards accreditation

We are looking for a highly motivated and organized individual who is able to work effectively in a team and communicate effectively with colleagues, nursing and medical staff, and patients/service users. You will also be required to have excellent IT skills and be proficient in the use of a wide range of standard IT programmes, including MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
