About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our Children and Young People Mental Health Service (CYPMHS) as a Trainee Systemic Family Practitioner. As a member of our team, you will work with children and young people and their families who require systemic family interventions to address their mental health needs.

The successful candidate will be supported to deliver evidence-based psychological therapies and will have the opportunity to gain experience in working with children and young people from diverse backgrounds. You will also be expected to complete a Post Graduate Diploma in Evidence-Based Psychological Therapy (Systemic Family Practice) at Northumbria University, which will equip you with the skills and knowledge to deliver systemic interventions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver evidence-based psychological therapies to children and young people and their families.
  • Work with children and young people from diverse backgrounds, using interpreters when necessary.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with children, young people, and their families.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of systemic family interventions.
  • Participate in regular supervision and training to ensure high-quality practice.
Person Specification

We are looking for an individual who possesses the following skills and qualities:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong understanding of systemic family interventions and evidence-based psychological therapies.
  • Ability to work with children and young people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other associated IT packages.
