Position Overview

We are pleased to announce an opportunity to become a valued member of our dedicated team at North Middlesex University Hospital as a Rehabilitation Support Specialist.

In this role, you will collaborate with Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists to implement effective treatment and rehabilitation strategies aimed at facilitating safe patient discharges. Your work will focus on assisting individuals recovering from acute strokes and neurological conditions within a cohesive therapy team.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary duties will include:

  • Supporting the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy teams in conducting assessments and delivering care for patients with acute strokes and neurological challenges, adhering to guidelines established by qualified therapists.
  • Independently managing a designated caseload, monitoring patient progress, and adjusting treatment plans as necessary in consultation with the assigned qualified therapist.
  • Providing specialized support to enhance the rehabilitation process for patients as directed by the therapy team.
  • Representing the therapy services during multidisciplinary team meetings, offering accurate updates on patient interventions and progress.

Education and Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • GCSEs in Maths and English, along with relevant City & Guilds or NVQ (Level 3) qualifications, or equivalent in-service training in a therapy setting.

Skills and Abilities

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, especially with patients facing communication challenges.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities applicable to clinical and organizational scenarios.
  • Team collaboration skills and the ability to self-manage departmental activities.
  • Competence in various therapeutic techniques, including manual handling and exercise therapy.

Experience

Essential Criteria

  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a relevant therapy environment or 5 years of general relevant experience.
