Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Pediatric Communication Specialist to become a part of our community-based team focused on delivering exceptional speech and language therapy services to children in mainstream educational settings. Role Responsibilities

In this position, you will provide assessments and interventions for children with speech, language, and communication challenges within mainstream educational environments.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Training

Essential

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or an equivalent qualification.
  • Registered member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
  • Registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Experience & Knowledge

Essential

  • Varied clinical experience during training, including exposure to adult caseloads.
  • Demonstrated theoretical understanding of communication disorders across diverse client groups.

Desirable

  • Additional experience working with the public.
  • Familiarity with Total Communication approaches.

Skills & Attributes

Essential

  • Ability to apply knowledge gained through clinical training and work experiences.
  • Awareness of the importance of Continuing Professional Development.
  • Strong auditory discrimination skills and proficiency in phonetic transcription.
  • Recognizes the significance of teamwork.
  • Understands prioritization principles.

Desirable

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Capability to create materials using photocopiers, computer graphics, etc.
  • Proficiency in using video/digital cameras.

  • Ability to communicate ideas and information clearly and confidently, both in writing and verbally.
