Position Overview:

We are in search of dedicated mobile culinary specialists to provide essential culinary services across various educational institutions in the Barking and Dagenham area. The selected candidates will ensure the delivery of high-quality meals while adhering to food safety and health regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook meals in accordance with established menus and dietary requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of food quality and presentation.
  • Travel to different school locations as necessary to provide chef coverage.
  • Adapt to diverse kitchen environments and equipment.
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations, including food hygiene standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure kitchen cleanliness and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Assist in menu planning, considering nutritional guidelines and student preferences.
  • Ensure meals accommodate specific dietary needs and allergies.
  • Monitor kitchen inventory and manage stock levels effectively.
  • Order supplies as needed and minimize waste through efficient ingredient usage.
  • Collaborate with catering teams at each location to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
  • Provide guidance and training to kitchen staff as required.
  • Assist with the preparation and execution of special events and themed days.
  • Ensure events are well-organized and food is served promptly.
  • Engage with students, staff, and school personnel in a professional manner.
  • Address any food-related inquiries or concerns in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications.
  • Full clean UK driving license preferred.
  • Food Safety and Hygiene certification is mandatory.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a chef, ideally in an institutional or educational catering environment.
  • Knowledge of nutritional standards for school meals and food safety regulations.
  • Strong culinary skills and familiarity with food preparation techniques.
  • Willingness to travel between various school locations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Physical capability to stand for extended periods and perform demanding tasks.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity and coordination to operate kitchen equipment safely.

Working Conditions:

  • Working hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday (typically from 7am to 3:30pm).
  • Annual working weeks: 52 weeks (annual leave to be taken during school half-term).
  • Flexibility to travel to various sites is required.
