Position Overview

Job Title: Area Retail Operations Manager - Midlands

Objective

The primary goal is to ensure the effective execution of organizational policies and protocols across a specified region of company-operated retail stations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guarantee adherence to Health & Safety regulations for both employees and patrons.
  • Oversee interactions with external stakeholders, including media outlets.
  • Perform fuel audits to assess payment processes and security measures.
  • Evaluate and enhance station operations to achieve optimal performance.
  • Lead and manage Contract Managers and assess team performance.
  • Track fuel pricing to optimize profit margins.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to facilitate effective promotions and merchandising strategies.
  • Achieve budgetary goals and address customer grievances.
  • Coordinate with contractors regarding maintenance concerns.

Scope of Role

Financial:
Manage operating expenses, retail income, fuel revenue, and additional service income.

Staffing:
Each station is managed by a Contract Manager along with approximately eight team members.

Work Environment

Competitive landscape:
Functioning in a highly competitive sector dominated by large supermarkets and major fuel corporations.

Framework & Guidelines:
Ensure all Contract Managers comply with established agreements.

Organizational Compliance:
Ensure adherence to agreements with Contract Managers.

Communication

Subordinates:
Guide and inspire Contract Managers through performance reviews and audits.

Superiors:
Maintain regular communication with the Regional Manager for support and direction.

External Contacts:
Engage with suppliers, partners, and relevant authorities.

Challenges

  • Foster positive relationships with Contract Managers and staff.
