Job Summary

The Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Hepatitis C and Liver Disease team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in the management and care of patients with viral hepatitis and liver disease.

Main Responsibilities
  • Support and manage a cohort of patients with viral hepatitis and liver disease, working closely with the Hepatitis C and Liver Disease team.
  • Develop and maintain clinical expertise in the management of patients with viral hepatitis and liver disease, delivering the highest standards of care to meet the needs of patients, their carers, and significant others.
  • Work in outreach services, including prison health, to provide blood-borne virus testing and support to patients.
  • Collaborate with ID and Hepatology teams to manage chronic disease, attending and participating in Hepatitis Nurse Forum and ID/Liver meetings.
  • Develop and use own clinical judgment to refer directly to medical staff in line with department guidelines, as required.
  • Liaise and exchange relevant information about patients with other hospital departments, as necessary, within defined statutory regulations.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with post-basic specialist qualification relevant to the specialty.
  • Extensive clinical experience, with involvement in audit and evidence of continued professional development.
  • Strong teaching, assessment, and leadership skills, with ability to motivate self and others.
  • Computer literate, with ability to work both on own initiative and within a team.
