Job Overview

This is a critical role that requires a strong leader to drive operational excellence, manage a large team, and build strong relationships with clients and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership for all operational activities, including warehousing, distribution, strategy, continuous improvement, and projects.
  • Team Management: Lead and develop a high-performing team of up to 250 employees, ensuring effective management and operational leads as direct reports.
  • Client Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new clients, ensuring ongoing satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Commercial Responsibility & Budget Management: Develop and manage the operational site budget, ensuring financial objectives are achieved while maintaining service and quality.
  • Performance Metrics: Continuously evaluate and improve organizational approach to KPIs, ensuring existing and new site standardization.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • Process Optimisation: Continuously evaluate and improve operational processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Innovation: Support the business appetite to drive innovation and adoption of new technologies to improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Supplier Relationships: Manage UK commercial relationships with customers, suppliers, and third-party service providers to ensure timely and cost-effective services.
Requirements
  • A Logistics Distribution & Supply Chain Background - Essential.
  • 8+ Years proven General Management / Head of Department leadership experience across Warehouse & Transport operations within a 3PL / FMCG / Food environment – Essential.
  • Previous budgetary responsibility across large-sized DC operations in excess of +£50m – Essential.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a track record of developing high-performing teams - Essential.
  • Prior commercial knowledge of the UK logistics and warehousing market - Essential.
  • An individual truly excited by large-scale growth challenges - Essential.
  • Commutable to the Spalding (PE11) area 5 days per week - Essential.
