Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and innovative educator to lead our pre-registration education team. As a Band 8a Lead Educator-Pre-Registration Education, you will be responsible for shaping and implementing our pre-registration education strategy, ensuring that our students receive high-quality clinical learning experiences that prepare them for a successful career in healthcare.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of our pre-registration education strategy, aligning with the NHS Education for Scotland (NES) and the National Health Service (NHS) standards.
  • Collaborate with our Practice Placement Team to ensure that our students receive high-quality clinical learning experiences that meet the needs of our patients and the NHS.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with our local AEI partners and BSol ICB/ICS organisations to ensure that our pre-registration education programme meets the needs of our students and the NHS.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of our pre-registration education programme, making recommendations for improvement and implementing changes as necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with our School of Nursing, AHP & Midwifery to ensure that our pre-registration education programme is aligned with our organisational goals and objectives.

Person Specification
  • Registered Practitioner; Nurse, AHP or Midwife
  • Master's level education or equivalent in experience in a related field (education)
  • Teaching Qualification (PGCE) or equivalent experience
  • Significant recent experience working in the NHS at a senior level and knowledge of current issues
  • Broad knowledge of nursing, AHP and Midwifery education delivery and assessment requirements within the NHS
  • Understanding the needs of pre-registration students and managing/co-ordinating placement activity
  • Working with a wide range of educational stakeholders, including AEIs
  • Experience in leading preparation of evidence for regulatory reviews NMC, NHSE, CQC
  • Significant clinical education experience, and implementation of projects, and programmes of work in a large complex organisation
  • Leading innovation in education and developing new initiatives
  • Knowledge of project management and research methodologies and ability to translate recommendations into practice
  • Senior leadership experience and knowledge in organisational change management, successful delivery of projects
  • In depth knowledge of quality assurance methodologies from education perspective
  • Experienced in staff management
  • Experience in negotiation
