We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Rail Engineer to join our team at Waterman Infrastructure & Environment (WIE). As a key member of our rail team, you will be responsible for leading projects, ensuring safety and environmental standards are met, and delivering high-quality results to our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Waterman Rail projects, including civils and structures design works
- Ensure our culture of safety and commitment to the environment is maintained and promoted throughout our delivery teams
- Manage and deliver significant high-value programs of major multi-disciplinary infrastructure bids and projects
- Client engagement to support rail project delivery
- Maintain and further develop the existing teams to continue delivering world-class engineering projects on time and to budget
- Understand and meet the client's business needs and ensure they feel confident in our commitment to deliver
- Ensure work is carried out cost-effectively and to specification
- Capable of working under pressure, delivering high-quality written reports and compelling bids to tight deadlines
- Contribute to bid proposals for target opportunities
- Manage and coordinate delivery of rail bids working closely with other technical discipline leads
- Represent Waterman with clients for projects under responsibility
- Work within the Waterman project management system using Waterman specified project management tools and procedures to deliver projects
- Project planning, including developing and executing project execution plans for all projects under responsibility
- Build team capability and stakeholder confidence
- Manage the change control process
- Responsible for delivering revenues assigned from specific clients as a result of repeat business caused by flawless execution of projects
- Sound understanding of NR, TfL project delivery process
- Consistently completes projects without write-downs or erosions
- Identify project risks and opportunities
- Work with Project Managers in recognizing risk and uncertainty with plans to mitigate and eliminate such
- Experience of managing sub-contracts as a means of delivering key works
- A track record of innovation, embracing new ways of working and use of digital tools
- Experience of Design & Build either working in a Contractor organization within Design-based organization working with contractor and can demonstrate great ability to control these activities
- Knowledge of different contracting types, especially target cost. Experience of resolving disputes, leveraging contracts to grow opportunities
- Familiar with Network Rail, TfL, and major contractor clients delivery process through demonstrable project experience
Requirements:
- B.Eng in engineering
- Preferred Qualifications C.Eng/MIStructE - Chartered status
- A full UK driving license
- Familiar with Network Rail, TfL, and other key clients delivery process and requirements
- Project management qualifications
- Significant experience in the UK Rail sector in a particular engineering discipline/multidisciplinary rail projects
- Has undertaken CEM/CRE or Project management role on multidisciplinary rail infrastructure projects
- Familiar with public sector framework management and delivery
