The UK Health Security Agency is seeking a highly skilled Senior Risk Communications and Community Engagement Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for leading risk communication and community engagement activities in response to public health emergencies.
Key Responsibilities- Response
- Develop and implement evidence-based risk communication strategies to support outbreak response and emergency preparedness.
- Establish and maintain strong partnerships with community groups, leaders, and other stakeholders to promote key practices and reduce disease transmission.
- Provide training and capacity strengthening opportunities to response staff and volunteers as needed.
- Liaise closely with local and regional counterparts to ensure coherence of strategy, materials, and activities.
- Partnership Working
- Identify, develop, and nurture key relationships with stakeholders to deliver objectives.
- Employ effective communication, negotiation, and diplomatic skills to enable stakeholder relationships.
- Capacity Strengthening
- Co-lead the development and delivery of capacity strengthening programs and activities on risk communication and community engagement.
- Provide professional supervision, coaching, and mentorship to team members.
- Research
- Co-lead the development of a research workstream and strategy on risk communication and community engagement.
- Develop and implement projects to enable the delivery of the research workstream.
- Management
- Manage own workload, including developing objectives and reviewing progress.
- Line manage a small team of risk communication and community engagement experts.
- PhD or MSc in Social and Behavioural Science, Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Education, Communication, Public Relations, or a relevant field.
- Proven experience in developing and applying innovative approaches to risk communication and community engagement.
- Experience in designing and conducting rapid qualitative assessments, social science research, and analysis.
- Experience in delivering training and capacity development in risk communications, community engagement, health promotion, or operational social science.
- Ability to provide a clear strategic direction for risk communication and community engagement research and capacity strengthening.
