Operations Manager

Join Avara Foods as a Despatch Team Leader and take on a challenging role that requires strong leadership and organizational skills. As a key member of our Despatch team, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities:- Team Management: Organize and motivate the team to deliver the day-to-day operational requirements of the department.
- Coaching and Development: Undertake 121's with team members in line with the agreed business timelines.
- Resource Management: Work with the Despatch Shift Manager and training department to develop a high-performing and engaged team that delivers to agreed quality and safety standards.
- Issue Escalation: Escalate issues in a timely manner to key stakeholders, including Production Schedulers, Transport, Sales, and Despatch Shift Manager.
- Incident Investigation: Support the root cause analysis of all incidents, either food or people related, to enable the implementation of effective countermeasures.
- Stock Control: Responsible for effective and accurate stock control.
- Deputy Role: Deputise for the Despatch Shift Manager when required.
- Disciplinary Procedures: Consistent application of the Company's procedures relating to absence and conduct, ensuring issues are dealt with quickly, effectively, and fairly.
- Shift Resource Management: Effectively manage the shift resources to meet the day-to-day priorities.
- TMS Management: Complete TMS for all weekly paid staff.
- Holiday Management: Approve holidays within the current restrictions and update calendar and TMS accordingly, arrange overtime or cover with agencies when appropriate.
- Shift Progress Updates: Provide regular updates on shift progress through the escalation processes.
- Bay Procedures: Management of the bay procedures to ensure safety and adherence to SOP's.
- MHE and Scan Gun Maintenance: Follow the defect procedure for MHE/scan guns.
- GMP, Health and Safety, and Food Hygiene: Understand, manage, and adhere to the maintenance of good GMP, health and safety procedures, encouraging safe work behaviors, and food hygiene procedures.
- Policies and Procedures: To comply with and promote all Avara Foods policies and procedures.
- Coaching Experience: Experience of coaching others to succeed.
- Communication Skills: Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across departments and levels.
- Delegation Skills: Proven delegation skills.
- Continuous Improvement: Desire to challenge and improve current GMP's.
- Relationship Building: Ability to develop good working relationships with all staff and managers.
- Training Coordination: Ability to assess and coordinate training requirements for new and existing team members.
- Computer Literacy: Computer literate.
- Functional Skills: Functional skills in English and Maths, Entry Level 3.
