The Pathology Department at the Royal Oldham Hospital operates within a state-of-the-art laboratory designed to provide comprehensive clinical and diagnostic services throughout the Trust. The Department holds UKAS Accreditation, ensuring high standards in our operations. Our facilities have been thoughtfully designed with the professional's needs in mind.
Salford Royal Hospital serves as a teaching institution, where all consultants participate in the education of medical students and the training of healthcare staff. We are looking to appoint dedicated Histopathology consultants to join our high-performing teams at the Oldham and Salford sites. We provide a comprehensive, efficient, and cost-effective Cellular Pathology service to the Northern Care Alliance and Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh NHS Foundation Trust. We aim to strengthen our skilled and committed team of 21 general consultants with individuals who can contribute to our ongoing success and an exciting future.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Essential Qualifications
- Extensive experience in Histopathology and Diagnostic Cytopathology.
- Demonstrated involvement in audit work that has led to improvements.
- Understanding of management principles within the Health Service context.
- Ability to influence and persuade effectively.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience in reporting on gynecological, urological, and head and neck cases.
- Evidence of participation in research initiatives.
Registration Requirements
Essential
- Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council with a valid license to practice or eligibility for registration within six months of the interview.
- Certificate of Completion of Training in Histopathology or equivalent training and experience.
- FRCPath or equivalent qualification.
Desirable
- Postgraduate degree (MD, PhD, MSc).
- Evidence of accredited clinical and educational supervision of medical learners.
