Postdoctoral Research Associate

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team at the University of Exeter. The successful candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary, international team working on the investigation of rare chromatin disorders and the function of the chromatin remodelling factor CHD7 in development and function of the mammalian neocortex.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct cutting-edge research in the field of epigenomics and neurodevelopment, with a focus on the role of CHD7 in the development and function of the neocortex.
- Develop and optimise a range of next generation sequencing (NGS) approaches, including ChIP-seq, CUT&RUN-seq, 4C-seq, ATAC-seq, RNA-seq and single cell multiomic approaches.
- Lead and provide expertise in NGS experiments for the team based at Exeter and establish collaborations with other epigenomic groups at Exeter and beyond.
- Work closely with other PDRAs in the team to identify the molecular mechanisms underlying developmental anomalies, understand how these abnormalities lead to circuit abnormalities and characterise mouse models using appropriate behavioural tests.
- PhD in a relevant field of study, or equivalent qualification/experience.
- Strong background in epigenomics, neurodevelopment and/or mouse genetics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Ability to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.
