About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineering Surveyor to join our Investment and Compliance Team at Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Council. The successful candidate will be responsible for the civil engineering function across our housing and corporate stock, including sewage treatment works, pumping stations, drainage works, and car parks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Head of Investment and Compliance, you will be responsible for the civil engineering function across BMSDC housing and corporate stock.
  • You will have a thorough working knowledge of current and appropriate building works legislation, including CDM and Health and Safety.
  • You will have a good technical knowledge of housing properties and their building and service components, as well as sound knowledge of building defects and solutions and the ability to estimate building costs.
  • You will be an effective problem solver, demonstrating attention to detail in your work and strong organisation and communication skills.
  • You will have significant experience of working across both housing and corporate stock, and experience of using design software, such as Autodesk, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and MicroStation.
  • You will have experience of delivering civil engineering work programmes in accordance with the RIBA Plan of Work Framework, and experience of managing multiple high value budgets.
  • You will have knowledge of map creation software and photo imaging software, and knowledge of statutory, regulatory, and best practice requirements in relation to civil engineering work.
  • You will have experience of procuring and mobilising contracts, and highly developed numerical and data analytical skills.
  • You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as a highly effective decision maker.
  • You will have excellent project and contract management skills.
