Position Overview:
We are pleased to announce an opening for a Deputy Charge Nurse at Foxgrove, Ayrshire Central Hospital.
Key Responsibilities:
We invite forward-thinking and motivated nurses, specifically Registered Mental Health Nurses (RMN) and Registered Learning Disability Nurses (RLDN), who possess an understanding of Child and Adolescent Mental Health and/or Forensic Mental Health, along with relevant experience.
You will be stationed at the Foxgrove National Secure Adolescent Inpatient Service within Ayrshire Central Hospital. In this role, you will collaborate with the Service Manager and clinical team to finalize the development of care pathways and processes, engage in the recruitment of junior staff, and contribute to establishing the culture and ethos of the service prior to its anticipated opening.
Additional Information:
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- First Level Registered Nurse (RMN part 3) or Registered Learning Disability Nurse.
- Relevant experience at Band 5 or higher in either CAMHS or Forensics.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development, ideally at degree level related to this position.
- Understanding of CAMHS and/or Forensic issues and their management considerations.
- Highly developed clinical skills and a comprehensive knowledge base regarding clinical issues and mental health legislation.
Work Hours: 37 hours per week.

Important Note:
From April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change employees in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will decrease from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without any loss of earnings. NHS Ayrshire and Arran is committed to implementing this change, although there may be some areas where full transition takes longer. If a department cannot safely accommodate the reduced hours immediately, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week (pro rata for part-time staff) until it is feasible to meet the requirements without compromising patient safety. You will, of course, be compensated accordingly. NHS Ayrshire and Arran is dedicated to fully implementing the 37-hour workweek across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so.
