We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Media and Communications Officer to join our team at Bangor University. Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the University's media relations strategy to enhance its profile regionally, nationally, and internationally.
  • Manage day-to-day media relations activities, including responding to media enquiries and proactively seeking media opportunities.
  • Create and manage content for various external and internal communication channels, ensuring alignment with the University's brand and messaging.
  • Develop and execute media campaigns that showcase the University's academic and research excellence.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key media contacts and influencers.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure integrated communications efforts.
  • Contribute to budget management, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Support the Head of Media and Communications in crisis communication management and provide timely and effective responses to emerging issues.
Person Specification
  • Essential:
    • Education to degree level in a related subject or demonstrable equivalent experience.
    • Experience of producing and placing news coverage.
    • Proven ability to write 'media-friendly' stories.
    • Experience of responding publicly to sensitive and difficult issues.
    • Knowledge and understanding of online communications channels, particularly social media.
  • Desirable:
    • Good understanding of brand positioning and development.
    • Experience of integrating online activity into offline materials.
    • Experience managing social media strategies.
