REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • A degree in a relevant field or up to 2 years of experience in a similar capacity (including internships) AND
  • Strong academic background - a minimum of a UK 2:1 degree (or equivalent), with preference for master's level qualifications in quantitative disciplines such as mathematics, accounting, economics, computer science, or engineering; AND
  • Fundamental understanding of risk management in the banking sector AND
  • Excellent communication skills and a genuine enthusiasm for the field AND
  • A commitment to a career in risk management AND
  • Strong analytical capabilities AND
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with programming languages is highly advantageous.

ROLE OVERVIEW This newly created position arises from internal promotions and will report directly to the Enterprise Treasury Risk Lead within a dedicated Risk Department. The Risk Department comprises 18 professionals, divided into Operational, Enterprise, Credit, and Analytic Risk teams. The primary objective is to support the Risk team in executing the Business Strategy by ensuring a robust second line of defense (2LOD) through oversight, review, and challenge. The role will focus on enhancing risk practices and reporting for the Bank, with an emphasis on financial risk management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitating the integration of the bank's risk management framework into operational processes.
  • Improving the controls environment through both preventative and detective measures.
  • Identifying and escalating concerns regarding practices, behaviors, and potential breaches of risk limits, policies, and guidelines to the Enterprise Risk Lead and Chief Risk Officer.
  • Delivering forecasts and unique insights to aid in business and risk-related decision-making.
  • Developing mathematical models and conducting analyses across various risk domains.
  • Providing oversight and validation for risk-related models, spreadsheets, and macros (e.g., Funds Transfer Pricing, cash flow forecasting, and liquidity models).
  • Enhancing process efficiency through automation and programming.
  • Contributing to the quality, timeliness, and accuracy of risk-related management information, supporting strategic decision-making and risk management practices.
  • Assisting in the preparation and delivery of risk-related reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with other departments to support revenue-generating initiatives within the bank's risk appetite.
  • Contributing to the production of key regulatory documents, including the ILAAP, ICAAP, Recovery Plan, and Risk Appetite Statement.
  • Providing innovative analytics, tools, and insights as needed by various stakeholders.
  • Keeping the department informed on domestic and international developments that may affect risk practices.
  • Engaging in all prudential aspects of the bank's operations.
