Executive Dean and Deputy Director Opportunity

The Courtauld Institute of Art, a leading scholarly centre for History of Art and Conservation, seeks a senior academic to join its senior management team as Executive Dean and Deputy Director. This is a permanent full-time appointment at professorial level, with an initial 4-year fixed term and the possibility of renewal for a second fixed 4-year term.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in The Courtauld's Senior Management Team and shape the direction of the organisation
  • Manage the Head of the Library, the Head of Public Engagement, and the Academic Registrar
  • Foster productive scholarly relationships across The Courtauld, including with the Courtauld Gallery
  • Develop partnerships with other scholarly and arts institutions, including King's College London
  • Support the director in coordinating strategy across the institute and gallery to promote the shared enterprise of The Courtauld
Requirements

The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, an influential and persuasive communicator, and a natural diplomat who can bring together a wide variety of individuals and audiences within the Courtauld community. They will have an understanding of leadership in the UK higher education sector, including academic management, administration, and budget management, and the implementation of organisational change.
