We are seeking a visionary Co-Founder in Residence to join our Deep Science Ventures team and drive innovation in the zero emission steel sector. This is an exceptional opportunity to co-found and spin-out a new company, leveraging our unique venture creation process and expertise in science-based entrepreneurship.
About the Role
As a Co-Founder in Residence, you will work closely with our team and the current Founder in Residence to develop a groundbreaking new venture. Your expertise in metallurgical engineering, material sciences, or a related field will be instrumental in creating a fully compatible steel plant that utilizes intermittent renewable electricity and heat, ensuring steelmaking uses fully-renewable carbon sources for alloying.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and commercialize novel technologies for steel production, focusing on renewable heating, medium-temperature processes, alternative energy storage systems, and alternative carbon sources.
- Collaborate with our team to identify and address the challenges in steelmaking, including processing low-grade ores and finding cheaper chemical reductants.
- Work closely with our network of Partners and Advisors to leverage their expertise and knowledge in the steel industry.
- Develop a comprehensive business plan, including fundraising, commercial partnerships, recruitment, and team-building strategies.
What We Offer
- Up to £250k in investment to incorporate the new venture and develop early proof-of-concept data.
- Guaranteed income of £4,166 per month paid as a consultancy fee until the company is launched and the pre-seed investment is secured.
- Majority equity stake in the new company for you and your co-founders.
- Continuous post-spinout support, including fundraising, commercial partnerships, recruitment, and team-building.
