Import Customs Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Import Customs Clerk to join our team at Red Recruit, a leading recruitment agency specializing in freight and shipping. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth importation of goods into the UK, working closely with our clients and stakeholders to provide accurate and timely customs clearance.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with the operational team to ensure effective customs clearance processes
- Provide accurate documentation checks to ensure compliance with government legislation
- Monitor arrivals and prepare documentation for entry submission
- Submit import declarations via ASM Sequoia
- Liaise with relevant government departments to ensure timely release of goods
- Support and contribute to branch P&L monthly reporting
- Recent experience of working in a customs brokerage environment, including entry submission to CDS via ASM or similar customs software provider
- Knowledge of the HMRC Tariff for a diverse range of product types
- Understanding of various customs procedures
- Ability to adapt to arrivals encompassing various transport modes
- Experience of using port community systems CNS & Destin8
- Strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to work with line manager on HMRC ad hoc requirements, procedures, audits etc.
- Computer literacy and knowledge of MS Office
We are looking for a motivated and organized individual with a strong understanding of customs procedures and regulations. If you have 2+ years of customs entry experience and are keen to learn in a fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you.
