This managerial position encompasses the RNLI's operational area in Scotland, overseeing technical functions from Mallaig to Helensburgh.
About the Organization
The RNLI has a long-standing mission to save lives at sea, with a history of dedicated service spanning over two centuries. We are currently seeking a Regional Technical Operations Manager to join our esteemed Technical Team in Scotland. This role is pivotal in ensuring the operational readiness and compliance of RNLI assets and equipment through collaborative efforts with Lifesaving Operations and Engineering & Supply teams.
Your Responsibilities
As the Regional Technical Operations Manager, you will lead a team of Technicians tasked with maintaining the availability and compliance of all RNLI assets.
Key Duties Include:
- Oversee the safe and efficient execution of both preventative and corrective maintenance in alignment with RNLI policies and external regulations.
- Collaborate with Lifesaving Operations to ensure the safe functioning of RNLI assets and equipment.
- Recruit, manage, and mentor a team of specialized technicians, conducting managerial assurance checks to ensure adherence to RNLI standards.
- Facilitate the professional development of technical staff by managing training and certification requirements necessary for RNLI operations.
- Cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance operational engineering practices.
The ideal candidate will possess strong team management skills, a practical approach to problem-solving, and the ability to maintain composure in a dynamic work environment.
Effective communication skills at all levels are essential, along with a willingness to travel and engage with Lifesaving Operations teams.
To qualify for the Regional Technical Operations Manager position, candidates should have:
- HNC/D or equivalent qualification in Engineering.
- A valid driving license.
- Level 5 Certificate in Team Leadership or equivalent experience.
- Extensive experience with technical systems and a proven track record in maintaining technical assurance and compliance.
- Significant experience in strategic implementation and support.
- Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
