About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Educational Mental Health Practitioner to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting children and young people with moderate health and well-being needs within an educational setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children's needs, collaborating with parents, carers, and other professionals to gain a holistic understanding of their circumstances.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans that address the identified needs of each child, ensuring clear, measurable goals are set in collaboration with the child, carers, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide direct support to children experiencing mental health challenges, utilizing evidence-based interventions and low-intensity therapeutic approaches.
  • Supervise and mentor EMHPs, providing guidance on implementing whole school approaches and best practices for supporting student well-being.
  • Coordinate care delivery across various services, ensuring seamless communication and information sharing to facilitate effective service planning.
  • Monitor the progress of children receiving support, making adjustments to care plans as needed to ensure they are meeting their individual goals.
  • Contribute to the training and development of students and staff trainees, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the educational setting.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant professional qualification in fields such as Educational Mental Health Practice, Social Work, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Psychotherapy, Psychology, or Allied Health Professions.
  • Low Intensity Intervention training and associated qualification. Low Intensity Supervision Qualification or a commitment to obtaining it.
  • Significant experience working with individuals experiencing mental health challenges.
  • Proven ability to assess, formulate, conduct risk assessments, and implement positive risk management strategies.
  • Excellent written communication skills and the ability to effectively manage time and resources.
  • A comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation, including NICE Guidelines, Mental Health Act, and Children's Act.
  • Car owner/driver.
