Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Medical Underwriter to join our team at Canada Life Limited. As a Medical Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in delivering an outstanding service to our customers by providing fair and balanced underwriting decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess initial applications and additional medical evidence to provide accurate underwriting decisions.
  • Manage the end-to-end customer journey, from application stage through to decision.
  • Handle complex cases and referrals while supporting less experienced team members.
  • Liaise with customer services, sales, reinsurance partners, and medical officers to ensure seamless communication.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry and market changes to maintain underwriting knowledge and skills.
Requirements
  • Experience in medical underwriting with a recognized underwriting authority.
  • Ability to underwrite for multiple protection product lines.
  • Understanding of underwriting manuals and processes.
  • Understanding of protection products requiring underwriting input.
  • GR1 or other industry-recognized qualification (desired).
