We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Consultant in Anaesthetics to join our team at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be based at Furness General Hospital and will be part of a dynamic team of 8 Consultants, Specialists, and Specialty Doctors.
Main Duties- Participate in a 1:8 Consultant of the week model, including prospective cover for Obstetrics and emergency theatres.
- Join a team of 8 Consultants with several Specialists and Specialty Doctors supporting all general services of the hospital, including a busy Accident and Emergency department.
- On-call shifts provide non-residential cover of Obstetrics and emergency theatres, supervising a dedicated resident anaesthetist.
- Lead Assessments of the deteriorating patient for emergency admission to the Intensive Care Unit.
- Lead the team in managing pre and post-operative theatre admissions.
- Participate in clinical audit, governance, and quality improvement.
- Demonstrate evidence-based practice where appropriate.
- Undertake and participate in the appraisal process and job planning.
- Satisfy the criteria for revalidation.
- Contribute to service development in areas of special interest and expertise.
- Actively participate in continuing medical education.
- Undertake personal appraisal and job-planning as part of revalidation.
- Maintain all mandatory training requirements.

We provide one of the main NHS settings for students from Lancaster Medical School as we co-ordinate, deliver, and quality assure the clinical component of Lancaster Medical Schools MBChB degree programme.
