Anaesthetics Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Consultant in Anaesthetics to join our team at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be based at Furness General Hospital and will be part of a department of 8 Consultants with several Specialists, Specialty Doctors, and ACCPs.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in anaesthesia, with experience in managing trauma and other surgical emergencies. They will also have a broad exposure to anaesthesia, particularly for laparoscopic surgery, emergency surgical, and obstetric emergencies.
The successful candidate will participate in a 1:8 Consultant of the week model, including prospective cover covering Obstetrics and emergency theatres. They will also join a team of 8 Consultants with several Specialists and Specialty Doctors supporting all general services of the hospital, including a busy Accident and Emergency department.
The role will involve leading assessments of the deteriorating patient for emergency admission to the Intensive Care Unit, managing pre and post-operative theatre admissions, and participating in clinical audit, governance, and quality improvement.
The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training, with evidence of previous undergraduate teaching experience. They will also have a diploma in education or other teaching qualification.

- Commit to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training
- Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
- FICM or an equivalent qualification
- FRCA or an equivalent appropriate higher anaesthetic qualification
- Higher Postgraduate professional qualifications in research or Education
