Job Title: Clinical Lead Advanced Nurse Specialist

The post holder will work as the lead Intravenous Access Specialist Nurse as an autonomous practitioner with responsibility for delivering a quality service and providing highly specialist expert knowledge and advice to staff and patients within the Trust in relation to intravenous access. Evidence-based care will be inherent in their practice, ensuring that best practice is disseminated throughout the Trust. They will lead Trust-wide education related to IV Access for medical and nursing colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Highly visible role model and expert resource for WUTH, WCHC, and primary care in the specialty of IV access.
  • Autonomous, accountable practitioner responsible for planning and managing the workload/caseload of the IV Access service in a flexible manner, ensuring that provision meets the needs of patients and directs those staff rotationally working within the service.
  • Liaise effectively and work collaboratively with Multidisciplinary and primary care teams.
Person Specification:Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training
  • Professional Registration e.g. registered nurse, with a broad knowledge of general nursing and a minimum of five years relevant post-registration experience.
  • Evidence of specialist training to master's equivalent level (Level 7).
  • Experience of inserting and managing a variety of Vascular Access Devices using ultrasound guidance.
Desirable
  • ANTT Level 2 assessor
  • Clinical Examination at level 7
  • Post registration Infection Control Module
Knowledge and Skills
  • Computer skills - the ability to utilise the computer to communicate a range of information.
Personal Attributes
  • Good analytical skills - Interpretation of electronic data.
Other Requirements
  • Ability to travel between sites.
