Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Support Assistant to work with children diagnosed with Autism and complex learning challenges in a mainstream educational setting. This role is ideal for recent graduates or individuals with a background in education looking to enhance their expertise in Special Educational Needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students aged 11 to 19 with their educational needs, focusing on their unique learning requirements.
  • Implement tailored interventions in small groups or on a one-to-one basis, under the guidance of the classroom teacher.
  • Adapt educational materials to meet the diverse needs of each student.
  • Encourage engagement through dynamic and interactive learning methods.

  • Communication and Interaction Skills
  • Cognitive Development (emotional, intellectual, and social understanding)
  • Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Support
  • Sensory and Physical Needs
  • Specific Learning Difficulties including Autism and Speech, Language, and Communication Needs

Requirements:

Applicants must possess suitable references and a valid DBS certificate or be eligible to apply for one. All candidates are required to have the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
