Job Title: Lead Mechanical Design and Analysis Engineer

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Mechanical Design and Analysis Engineer to join our team at GE Aviation. As a key member of our equipment design team, you will be responsible for developing innovative mechanical designs for power electronics and electrical distribution equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement mechanical design solutions for complex power electronics and electrical distribution equipment.
  2. Perform engineering analyses using a combination of hand calculations and software tools to ensure design integrity and performance.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement test plans and support physical testing of prototypes.
  4. Lead the development of 3D CAD models and 2D drawings in PTC Creo and manage parts and BoMs in Siemens Teamcenter PLM system.
  5. Ensure the effective allocation of resources and prioritization of projects to meet customer requirements.

Requirements:

  1. A degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, or relevant experience in a mechanical design engineering environment.
  2. Significant engineering experience with good technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, sheetmetal design, DFMA, and material selection.
  3. Expertise in stress, thermal, and fluid flow analyses using a combination of hand calculations and FEA software tools such as ANSYS and Fluent.
  4. A strong track record in product development, ideally gained in the industrial or electrical equipment sectors.
  5. Proficiency in the use of PTC Creo, or similar 3D CAD software for the creation of 3D part and assembly models and 2D drawings.
  6. Good engineering, communication, and organisational skills.
