Job Title: Japanese Speaking FDI Research Coordinator

Company: Centre People Appointments

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time

Location: Central London (Hybrid)

Salary: £28-35K depending on experience

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Japanese speaking FDI Research Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our business development team, you will be responsible for client-facing tasks, innovation and market opportunity research for APAC corporate clients in the EMEA region.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the entire investment cycle: Initial lead generation, outreach, and account management
  • Attract foreign direct investment (FDI) from the UK: Identify, contact, meet, and communicate client's value proposition to their client's target investors, partners, and customers
  • Identify and engage with potential clients: Travelling to events and trade shows to identify companies looking for business expansion
  • Support the overseas investment process: From initial lead generation to negotiation and closing deals
  • Provide trade & market entry support services: To companies interested in exporting to the UK
  • Support marketing activities: On behalf of our government client in the UK, including webinars, trade show representation, and networking events
  • Plan, organize, and execute events: With the purpose of attracting foreign direct investment
  • Arrange and support visits: From government and business delegations
  • Act as a liaison: Between the state government and prospective UK investors
  • Report to clients: Via regular meeting notes and reports
  • Undertake research and technology scouting: For our Japanese/other APAC corporate clients
  • Compile regular reports: In English/Japanese for submission to our clients
  • Work with clients: To help them engage and collaborate with potential technology partners
  • Other related business development and administrative tasks:

Requirements:

  • 2 years' experience: In FDI attraction, international business, site selection, etc.
  • Outgoing and dynamic approach: An enthusiasm for meeting and engaging people
  • Excellent communication skills: To get complex ideas across from clients to customers/investors and vice versa
  • Native level English skills: And advanced Japanese language skills
  • Experience of working in Japan: Or with Japanese companies preferred
  • Ability to travel extensively: Domestically, and occasionally to the UK and the US
  • Interest in technology: Sustainability, market expansion, and international business
  • Relevant degree: Business, international relations, investment promotion, or trade
  • Experience in a relevant industry: Automotive manufacturing, aerospace, biotechnology, energy, logistics, food manufacturing, etc.
