Job Title: Support Worker

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is seeking a Support Worker to provide one-to-one support to a young man with severe Learning Disability and spastic quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy.

About the Role

We are looking for a Support Worker to cover current PA for holidays and absence when required. This could be up to 2 days per week (Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10am to 3pm) for up to 12 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one support to the young man to enable him to participate in activities at Priory View in Bridlington or at his home in Driffield.
  • Support the young man to interact and engage with activities such as cooking, bowling, arts and crafts, and other group activities.
  • Support the young man to leave a group if he becomes overwhelmed and needs a quiet area to calm down.
  • Support the young man with all tasks and activities, including personal care, meal and drink times, medication, and going to and from sessions.
  • Support the young man to join in tasks in other ways due to limited movement in his hands.
  • Be patient and supportive when helping the young man with eating his lunch.
Requirements

DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post. The cost will be met by the local authority.
