Night Shift Service Engineer

Austin Banks is seeking a skilled Night Shift Service Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Service Department, you will be responsible for ensuring the high-quality maintenance and repair of our hire fleet and customer equipment.
Key Responsibilities:- Support the Service Department in the repair and maintenance of hire fleet and customer equipment, ensuring high-quality service and customer satisfaction.
- Carry out planned service and maintenance work on hire fleet and customer equipment, adhering to company procedures and guidelines.
- Diagnose and rectify faults in hire fleet and customer equipment, utilizing your technical expertise and problem-solving skills.
- Prepare equipment for hire, install, and disconnect equipment on-site, ensuring seamless operations.
- Install and commission power to temporary site accommodation, wiring in where necessary.
- Load and unload vehicles, maintaining a safe and efficient workflow.
- Participate in the call-out rota system and ensure tidy work areas, promoting a culture of professionalism and respect.
- Complete and submit all company paperwork as per procedure, safeguarding company assets and maintaining accurate records.
- Keep company or loan vehicles clean, serviced, and report defects promptly, ensuring optimal vehicle performance.
- Promote teamwork and cooperation across the Generator Power Group of Companies, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Treat all employees and customers professionally and with respect, upholding the company's values and code of conduct.
- Act in the best interests of the Generator Power Group of Companies, avoiding actions that may bring the company into disrepute.
- Contribute proactively to the company's continuous improvement policy, suggesting innovative solutions and best practices.
- Follow Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental guidelines (ISO 9001:14001 and OHSAS 18001), ensuring a safe and sustainable work environment.
- Carry out any reasonable ad-hoc duties as requested by your line manager or the management team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
- Good communication skills and the ability to connect naturally with people, building strong relationships with colleagues and customers.
- Timely and effective work execution, prioritizing tasks and managing time efficiently.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues to achieve common goals.
- Follow company policies and procedures, adhering to established guidelines and protocols.
- Understand and implement written and verbal instructions, demonstrating a high level of comprehension and attention to detail.
- Self-motivation, taking initiative and ownership of tasks and projects.
- GCSE or equivalent, demonstrating a solid foundation in core subjects.
- Forklift Truck Licence (desired, but full training provided), ensuring safe and efficient vehicle operation.
- Apprenticeship in Engineering, showcasing technical expertise and problem-solving skills.
- C&G qualifications, demonstrating a high level of technical knowledge and competence.
- Electrical skills/qualifications (advantageous), enhancing technical capabilities and versatility.
- Experience with generators, plant equipment, or heavy engineering (or similar), applying technical knowledge and skills to real-world scenarios.
