Job Title: Junior Buyer

Location: Blackwood

Salary: £25,000-£26,000 per annum

Hours: Full time. Monday - Friday, days regular 37.5 hours a week, start time can be slightly flexible

We are recruiting a Junior Buyer to work for a company in Blackwood on a temp to perm basis. As a key member of the purchasing team, you will play a vital role in supporting the Purchasing Manager in key functions within the department.

Main Job Roles:
  • Procurement: Source and purchase goods and services from suppliers, ensuring the best possible value for the business.
  • Vendor Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring excellent service levels and quality products.
  • MRP Scheduling: Use MRP/ERP and SAP systems to schedule and manage inventory, ensuring efficient stock levels and minimizing waste.
  • Quality Assurance: Work with the quality team to ensure products meet the required standards, and implement quality improvement initiatives.
  • New Product Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new products, ensuring they meet customer needs and business objectives.
  • Driving Improvement Initiatives: Identify areas for improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.

  • Track record of achieving cost-down benefits to the business.
  • Excellent internal and external customer relationship and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Team player with strong work ethic and ability to adapt to and drive change.
  • Highly numerate and analytical, with ability to analyze and interpret data.
  • Commercially minded, with attention to detail.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated, with a professional demeanor at all times.
  • Able to deliver at a consistently high level in a demanding, commercial environment.
Education and Experience:
  • Educated to degree level - CIPS preferably (or working towards).
  • Supply chain or procurement experience.
  • IT literate with strong spreadsheet knowledge.
  • Experience working with MRP/ERP and SAP systems.
  • Experience working in a legislative environment and familiar with procedures/systems.
