Main Duties and Responsibilities

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist at Coventry And Rugby GP Alliance, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our multidisciplinary team.

Clinical Responsibilities
  1. Work collaboratively with the team to achieve common goals and objectives.
  2. Participate in the management of long-term conditions, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
  3. Provide family planning advice and administer IM contraceptive injections as per protocol.
  4. Administer childhood immunisations according to the national vaccination schedule.
  5. Monitor ongoing treatments and provide health education and cancer screening advice.
  6. Perform cervical cytology screening and provide opportunistic screening and advice on men's health.
  7. Assist with patient care planning and evaluation.
  8. Clinical measurements, such as blood pressure recording, blood glucose monitoring, and ECGs.
  9. Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections.
  10. Undertake wound care and appropriate management of wounds.
  11. Provide health promotion in areas such as weight, smoking, and alcohol.
  12. Teach patients and their families self-care where appropriate.
  13. Assist and/or chaperone the general practitioner.
  14. Maintain professional standards, adhering to evidence-based and current best practice.
  15. Ensure registration with the relevant professional body.
  16. Participate in the annual appraisal process and maintain personal professional development.
  17. Participate in clinical supervision.
  18. Advise, support, and contribute to the education of other team members.
  19. Lead on infection control and maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards.
  20. Participate in the maintenance of medical equipment and ensure appropriate stock levels.
  21. Record maintenance: keep contemporaneous clinical records using the computer system.
