Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Prototype BIW Technician to join our team at Forbes HR Ltd. As a Prototype BIW Technician, you will be responsible for manufacturing prototype parts using Additive Manufacturing, Vac Casting, and Composite Laminating.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow health and safety guidelines
  • Prepare composite tooling
  • Support the development of new in-house manufacturing methods
  • Perform metalwork and fabrication tasks
  • Rework parts, including trimming, drilling, and finishing
  • Operate CNC machines, manual machining, and turning
  • Support body structure assembly (tubs) as required
  • Support reworks and PWR 'Prototype work requests' as needed

Requirements:

  • Practical level qualification in manufacturing, engineering, mechanical, or a related field
  • Experience as a Prototype BIW Technician in an Automotive and/or Motorsport manufacturing environment
  • Strong mechanical and fabrication skills
  • Previous experience in Composite Laminating and/or Vac Casting
  • Ability to perform fine detail work and detailed inspection
  • Experience with hand tools and computer literacy
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and skills in failure investigations and problem solving
  • Experience with milling machines and lathes is a plus

Desirable Skills:

  • 3D printing/additive manufacturing experience
  • CMM machine operation experience
