Position Overview
The role is for an Advanced Clinical Fellow specializing in Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery. This position is designed for qualified orthopaedic surgeons who are looking to enhance their expertise in a dynamic clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
The Orthopaedic Department delivers comprehensive orthopaedic and acute trauma services to the local community. The trauma service operates under the guidance of experienced consultants, with daily trauma lists scheduled to ensure optimal patient care. The department fosters a collaborative atmosphere where all consultants contribute to both general orthopaedic services and their respective subspecialties.
Clinical Duties
As part of the role, the successful candidate will engage in clinical sessions across multiple facilities, ensuring a well-rounded experience in both elective and trauma settings. The department is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including dedicated theatres for orthopaedic procedures and a specialized trauma unit.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential:
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and a valid license to practice.
- Completion of MRCOG part 1 or an equivalent qualification.
Desirable:
- Training in Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) or Management of Obstetric Emergencies and Trauma (MOET).
- Completion of MRCOG.
Experience
Essential:
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously.
- Experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
- Experience in a second on-call capacity.
Desirable:
- Proficiency in computer applications.
Audit and Teaching
Essential:
- Participation in audits related to Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
- Commitment to teaching and mentoring trainees within the department.
Personal Attributes
Essential:
- Exceptional communication skills with patients and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable:
- Evidence of professionalism and organizational skills in clinical practice.
