About the Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to work with a high-profile Utilities client, utilizing their expertise to design and deliver mechanical building services installations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical building services systems, including pipework sizing calculations, ductwork sizing, equipment sizing, and control valve sizing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop mechanical documents, including equipment specifications, schedules, and reports
  • Perform pipework sizing calculations for various systems, including LTHW, CHW, HWS, CWS, Steam, Gas, Flue, Compressed Air, and Lube Oil
  • Conduct ductwork sizing calculations and equipment sizing for pumps, PHEs, boilers, CHPs, heat pumps, thermal stores, buffer tanks, calorifiers, fans, AHUs, chillers, and other equipment
  • Develop control valve sizing and authority documents
  • Perform heat gain/loss calculations and heating/cooling loads and respective profiles
  • Prepare Functional Design Specifications and participate in HAZOP and LOPA discussions/meetings
  • Conduct DSEAR assessment and PED calculations and documentation
Requirements:

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with experience in sizing pipework systems and equipment, preferably with training available as required. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical building services systems and be able to work effectively in a team environment.
