Position Overview

We are seeking skilled Safety and Security Specialists to become part of our dedicated team at Solent NHS Trust. In this role, you will be stationed at various locations, ensuring the safety and security of our facilities.

As a Protective Services Officer, your primary responsibilities will include conducting internal and external patrols, monitoring surveillance systems, and managing the locking and unlocking of premises. You will also address security-related incidents promptly and effectively.

Your role is crucial in delivering a high standard of security services to the Trust. You will be tasked with protecting individuals and property, investigating incidents, and striving to maintain a secure and crime-free environment. It is essential to perform security duties efficiently while being mindful of the comfort, welfare, dignity, and privacy of patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure a secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Protect the property of patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Safeguard Trust assets against theft, fire, and vandalism.
  • Execute security tasks with diligence and care.
  • Work independently under the guidance of Security Management, adhering to established procedures.
  • Collaborate with various departments to foster effective relationships.
  • Act with compassion and courtesy, respecting the rights of all individuals.
  • Provide basic first aid and support until emergency services arrive.

About Solent NHS Trust

We are in the process of forming a new organization that will integrate community, mental health, and learning disability services across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. This initiative aims to enhance the quality of care and access to services for all communities.

The new Trust will encompass services currently provided by multiple NHS Trusts, ensuring a cohesive approach to healthcare delivery. Employees will transition to the new organization while retaining their employment terms and conditions.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Valid Door Supervisor SIA licence.
  • Previous experience in a security role.
  • Familiarity with security technologies, including CCTV and access control systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and handle high-pressure situations.

Desirable:

  • SIA Top Up and CCTV Licences.
  • Experience in an NHS environment.
  • First Aid Certification.

Skills Required

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Good negotiation and engagement skills.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing situations.
