Principal Engineer – Cyber Security

Location:

Your responsibilities will include establishing a risk-based framework of cyber security requirements for systems or subsystems, offering technical direction and support across all facets of cyber security and resilience. You will conduct cyber security analysis, develop threat taxonomies, security architectures, security baselines, and risk mitigations. Additionally, you will create test plans and schedules, and carry out both informal and formal cyber security assessments. You will also support engineering gated reviews and design assurance processes, and produce security documentation such as risk registers, security assurance cases, plans, and schedules.


Essential Qualifications:
A degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant STEM discipline or Information Security field. Recognized Industry Security Certifications, e.g., CCP, CISSP, CISM (or ability to obtain).

Proven experience in risk assessment and management in accordance with industry best practices (NIST, ISO). Significant experience in utilizing security baselines, mitigations, and controls. An engineering background or strong familiarity with a lifecycle phased approach is required.

Desirable Qualifications:
Experience in Product Security within the defense, maritime, or closely related sectors. Familiarity with MOD Policies and regulations such as SPF, JSP 440, and JSP604, along with the production of Risk Management Accreditation Document Sets (RMADS).

Knowledge of the challenges surrounding the security of Operational Technologies/Industrial Control Systems and strategies to secure them. Project Management experience is a plus.

The Engineering Delivery Team:

The team is responsible for designing, building, integrating, and providing ongoing support for all Submarine Platforms in the Royal Naval fleet.

Utilizing your expertise, you will identify, analyze, evaluate, and manage information security risks associated with the products utilized on-board submarines.

You will engage knowledgeably and credibly with customers, users, and internal stakeholders, providing insights on the identified risks, their likelihood, and potential operational impacts.
